D. CULTURAL AND HISTORIC FEATURES
1. Archeological Sites
The Center for Archaeological Research at UTSA identifies four archaeological sites in FWP. There are chert working sites in upland areas of the Park and temporary camp sites in lowland areas.
2. Rock Wall
The Vista Loop Trail follows and crosses a low rock wall that marks the separation of the Friedrich and Martin/Mathews properties that were combined to make the original park. It is not known if this wall was ever much higher or more structured than the low pile of rocks that exists now.
3. Windmill and Well
A working windmill and well are located along the Water Trail west of the Main Loop Trail. The well dates back to ranching use of the early 1900's; the existing steel windmill tower may have replaced an earlier wooden one. Old hexagonal cypress rods were recently replaced by fiberglass.
4. Target Range
Bullets and shells can be found in the Park from days when Camp Bullis Military Reservation used parts of the area for target practice.
The windmill beside the Water Trail is maintained as a cultural history feature
