Subject: CRECER Volunteer Saturday report
Date: Mon, 19 May 1997
Sat May 10 was our monthly Volunteer Work Day. We had a full house of
newcomers and old comers. We received walk in donations of two computer
systems with software (an operational early Macintosh with children's
educational games; and a 386 like new system that is windows and modem
ready). Bob started up our Highlands Hills Project computers and worked
many tricks with this early architecture. Mary worked on our Joshua
Assembly project tutoring Tommy Lee, one of the project's enthusiastic
recipients. Mario taught a small class of volunteer technicians
including Adolfo who completed an 088 for the Highlands project, and
Dennis who finished an AT CPU for future placement.
Sat May 17 was a continuation of our new weekly workdays. We took in
donations of three computers (an operational 088 w/printer & licensed
programs like excel and PCWrite; a 386 CPU; and another operational AT
unit with much software also). One self starting volunteer, Kent, was
able to complete the Highlands Project. Mario finished two 386 units
ready for future placement. Another volunteer sorted our recent Monsion
Del Rio donation and finished testing & matching keyboards to our St.
Gerard's project. We showed our gratitude to one donor by answering his
questions on software installation for his new replacement computer.
These are samples of fulfilled organizational goals that we are proud of
at CRECER.
Your warehouse manager,
Ed Shadrock
