Irish Flats
           1873 Koch Map
Map of the Irish Flats area

This is a copy of the 1873 Koch Map, from the San Antonio Conservation Society Archives.

The house that is now the peaceCENTER, at 127 McCullough, which was called Fifth Street then, is marked with a red arrow. The Alamo is marked with a green arrow.

The blue line shows the boundaries of the Irish Flats neighborhood. Note that NORTH is oriented to the left edge.

  • The northern perimeter is marked as Sixth Street, although some sources extend it as far as Tenth Street.
  • The Eastern border is the Acequia Madre, an irrigation ditch.
  • The Southern border is Alamo Plaza/Houston Street.
  • The Western border, at the bottom of this map, is C Street.
