TIME WARNER CABLE KICKS-OFF "ROADRUNNER IN THE CLASSROOM" AND "ROADRUNNER FOR EDUCATORS"  -  HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS NOW AVAILABLE TO  -  THOUSANDS OF LOCAL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

SAN ANTONIO - Air brakes screeched as a school bus pulled up to the West Side's Crockett Elementary School today to drop off the newest "student", the Time Warner Cable RoadRunner mascot. Students watched wide-eyed as the giant bird emerged through a haze of confetti and smoke to deliver the newest educational tool for the classroom; access to the world through RoadRunner, a high-speed Internet service.

"The Internet is growing more important each day in education," said Time Warner Cable president Navarra Williams. "RoadRunner in the Classroom is a public service initiative by Time Warner Cable to provide all our children and teachers with the fastest, easiest and most advanced technology available to surf the web."

Crockett Elementary School was chosen for the launch of RoadRunner in the Classroom because it is one of Time Warner Cable's adopted schools in the highly successful "Adopt-a-School" program. However, RoadRunner in the Classroom will be offered to every school district in the Time Warner Cable service area.

For 7 years, Time Warner Cable has been providing free basic cable service to hundreds of thousands of children, through its Cable in the Classroom program.   The company has Invested more than $3.4 million in the program to date, making a real difference in the lives of children as they pursue their educational goals. RoadRunner in the Classroom will be delivered to 484 schools in approximately 18 school districts throughout the TITUS Warner Cable service area. Every school will be provided one free cable modem connection, which will service three computer stations in each school's computer lab. Time Warner Cable will install the first modem free of charge. Additional moderns and service can be purchased.

In addition to offering free RoadRunner in the Classroom to area schools, Williams also unveiled RoadRunner for Educators, a service that offers qualified educators the premium service in their homes at a reduced cost. "We're hoping teachers can use RoadRunner as a teaching tool, to help with lesson plans, generate ideas for projects and enhance research. And of course we know it will save them something very precious and valuable..   time."

To qualify, teachers must be active educators during the school year and certified by the Texas State Board of Education. They must go through three hours of Internet training and have written approval from their principal. Teachers who subscribe to Roadrunner for Educators will pay only $19.95 a month, a savings of up to $25 per month. Teachers can choose to install RoadRunner themselves for free or installation cart be arranged at a charge of $89.95~

"As with all of our public service initiatives, our goal is to help educate our children. We believe that these two new programs, RoadRunner in the Classroom and RoadRunner for Educators, along with Cable in the Classroom, go a long way toward reaching that goal.
