Combat training for young filmmakers.

1. Videographer -- shoot location footage as required by a short script prepared by a student writer. Must know how to operate a Canon XL1 camcorder, pay attention to lighting and augment existing light as required to make good pictures. Location sound is also required, but will be handled by a separate operator.

2. Location Audio Operator -- work with the Videographer to record clean sound, capture natural sound plus any stand-ups or narration recorded on location.

3. Script Writer -- develop story content into a shooting script that will help the production team shoot the right material on location. Most stories will run no longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and will be produced for broadcast and also for web streaming, and will concentrate on a single topic.

4. Editor -- will use either Speed Razor or Media 100 systems to edit the individual pieces. Must have good work habits, pay attention to audio and video levels, and be able to move projects through the pipeline in an orderly fashion -- complete the work get it approved, and move on.

5. Web Content Producer -- work within a pre-designed web site to produce informational pages that link to streaming media, extract information from a database, and provide an engaging experience for the user. Will use html and other web creation techniques to meet the objectives of the project.   I hope that these short job descriptions will help us match the abilities and interests of your students to the needs of the project. Of course, in addition to the students, KLRN will provide some mentorship in each area to help with orientation and training but we expect that the students will have a lot of hands-on experience through the project and will gain valuable experience.
