Pleas-
I appreciate the time you spent
with me discussing the proposed mentoring
program for secondary students in
the Alamo Area Council of Governments
agencies. As I understand
it, many self selected students will work with
people like myself in technology
business (cable. telecom, computers,
software, etc.) who will be their
mentors. Since we have talked about this
idea for years, I am really
excited to see the San Antonio ISOC Chapter
undertake this effort. As a
Board member, I will do all that I can do to
support this work. As I
understand it, the primary supporters are ISOC-SA
and KLRN at the moment.
As an employee of a fair sized
technology company, Time Warner Cable's Road
Runner High Speed Online business
and within Time Warner Cable, I see many
opportunities within our
organization for mutual benefit. We sell high
technology and us use it. We
have a need for new employees. We have a need
for skilled Internet and computer
users. We have a long history of community
and educational involvement, and
this program fits us from this perspective
as well.
Please keep me in the loop on this
project. I will do all that I can to
provide support and provide
assistance to the project both as an ISOC-SA
member as well as I can within my
position in Time Warner Cable.
Sincerely yours,
Philip W. Jackson
